Our Story
DualLenz was born from a personal journey in language learning. Despite years of studying English and French, I found myself struggling to finish books in these languages. The existing tools couldn't address the fundamental challenges that prevented truly immersive reading experiences in foreign languages.
What I needed was a solution that would allow me to temporarily switch difficult paragraphs to my native language to maintain reading momentum and emotional connection with the text. For complex sentences, I wanted to see exactly how each part mapped between languages and understand the reasoning behind specific translation choices. And for beloved books, I wanted to use my preferred translations rather than relying solely on AI-generated versions.
DualLenz emerged from these needs—a comprehensive tool designed by a language learner, for language learners, that addresses the real-world challenges of reading in a foreign language.
